So here's where my Keto journey starts. I set my macros at 5% carbs, 70% fat, 25% protein. I haven't cheated at all. I've only lost a few pounds so far, but I've dropped from a 26 pant to a size 20. I weigh 233 today. But I feel pretty darn good. I sleep better than I ever have before, my days are full of energy and I am really loving this way of life.
But I am not losing weight. I need to do that. So I am researching fasting. I plan on starting my fasting Monday 6/6/16. I hope that fasting is the answer and helps me jump start my weight loss.

My next point in my weight loss journey started Feb 8th. I finished up Advocare 24 and really wanted to go to the next level. I decided that I can do this on my own. No shakes, no pills. Just me and my will. So I read the Whole 30, lots of Paleo information and started researching Keto. I decided that I was going to start myself on the Ketogenic way of life.
But I was not ready. I would fail if I started it now. I needed to kick this carb habit. I had been eating well. Or what I thought was well at the time. I was eating whole grains, whole foods, fresh veggies and fruits and keeping away from processed goods. But that wasn't where I wanted to be. I had to give up the carbs. So I did. I rid myself of all the simple sugars and complex carbs (aside from veggies mostly).
I stayed low carb for a couple weeks. Got through the low carb flu, the headaches, the cravings. I went to the doctor on Feb 24th to get my blood work results. My doctor was the one to first, bluntly tell me that carbs were going to kill me. And he could only prevent (or delay) that with pills and pills. That was in December 2015. He put me on so many pills.
Well at this Feb 24th appointment, he took me off all of them except one! Whoo hoo! Everything in my blood work was looking good and I knew I was on the right track. The next day, Feb 25th, 2016 I would take the Keto plunge. And it was my son, Garrett's 6th birthday. I would remember the date :)
I started off at 259 pounds in December. 248 in January and 238 in February.

So day 1 was back on January 4th, 2016. I started the Advocare 24 day challenge. It was expensive, I hated the shakes but it helped me really jump start my journey. It helped me with portion sizes, kicking the sugar habit and giving up diet soda. I lost 11 pounds in that first 24 days. It's 11 pounds more than I had lost in the previous year, so I was happy-ish.
